I thought we could discuss how much it costs us to heat a SIP home. I know this doesn't only depend of the fact that you select SIPs for you building envelope, but anyway... it is still the right way to compare and learn how much better it is. I was always a 'believer' in SIPs... but until I build my own home and started living in it, it was all just a theory.
So here is it... reviewing my power bills I realised it costs us 80$ on average to heat 240m2 house in winter.

I moved into brand new apartment in the city. Its in second floor being the middle story, appartments all around us, left, right, up and down, in fact only about 8m of external walls on each end. Non thermally broken windows.
We are now spending approximately the same in out 76m2 apartment, as we were in our 240m2 SIP house. We are heating non-stop to about 21deg.
Here is another interesting article on SIPs house in Invercargill. Information about the building cost around $600K and it should cost about $60/month to heat?
